260 photovoltaic professionals gathered in 2009 at the 2nd EPIA International Thin Film Conference, confirming the need for a platform for discussion within the Thin Film Industry and related stakeholders.
The second edition of the conference has been the occasion to present the state-of-the-art PV Thin Film sector and to offer an excellent opportunity to network with Thin Film’s most knowledgeable experts.
Although all PV technologies benefit from high expansion rates, Thin Film capacities are currently expanding faster than other technologies. Approximately 4GW of Thin Film capacity is expected to be available by the end of 2010. This would represent 20% overall.
By 2015, Thin Films will already represent 30% of the total EU market with a balance distribution between Silicon TF and II-VI compounds (CdTe, CIGS).
This second edition of the EPIA International Thin Film Conference focused on the SET For 2020 Report and its results regarding Thin Film Industry deployment. Conducted by EPIA with the strategic management consultancy A.T. Kearney, SET For 2020 outlines how photovoltaics can become a mainstream energy supplier in Europe by 2020.
Findings of the report were addressed through high level presentations giving different point of views (PV Industry, equipment and material suppliers):
The conference also provided an insight into global market trends, the latest technological achievements in the sector and a full analysis of the whole value chain.
